You’ll begin amongst Barcelona’s architectural masterpieces, stepping inside the extraordinary Sagrada Família before travelling towards the north and the striking modern city of Bilbao. San Sebastián offers one of Europe’s most beautiful urban settings, with the spectacular curve of La Concha Bay framed by green hills and the Atlantic beyond. From here, Green Spain unfolds before you through the dramatic Bay of Biscay coastline, the elegant seaside city of Santander and the medieval harbour of Castro Urdiales. You’ll wander the cobbled streets of Santillana del Mar (the town of three lies), discover the mountain sanctuary of Covadonga, pass the remarkable pre-Romanesque treasures of Asturias and explore Lugo, the only city in the world still completely encircled by ancient Roman walls. Finally, you’ll reach Santiago de Compostela, where the magnificent Cathedral marks the legendary end point of one of the world’s most famous pilgrim routes.

But perhaps the greatest highlight is the chance to experience Spain as many Spaniards do, following regions that remain beyond the usual international tourist trail. You’ll travel through landscapes associated with the Camino del Norte, where pilgrims have followed the wild northern coast towards Santiago for centuries. You’ll discover a different regional character in almost every stop, from the proud food culture of the Basque Country to the mountain traditions of Asturias and the ancient Celtic influences of Galicia. A traditional pintxos dinner introduces you to one of Spain’s great social dining experiences, while free time throughout the journey allows you to linger over local food, explore historic streets and discover places at your own pace. This is Spain with a different rhythm, greener, wilder and wonderfully authentic, where the journey itself becomes every bit as memorable as the destinations.

Your trip begins in Barcelona.  From here you head north to visit Pamplona, San Sebastián and Bilbao, before heading along the north coast to Santander.  You will then head along the coast to Oviedo, stopping at delightful, historic towns before arriving at Santiago de Compostela.  After time here, you head down to Madrid to spend some time before your trip comes to an end.

Health & vaccination

• As border restrictions for countries begin to ease, being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will maximise the number of locations you can visit. So whilst you are not legally required to be vaccinated, and it’s also not a requirement to travel with us, it will limit some of the countries that you can visit and may make it harder to travel for the next 12-18 months.

• We highly recommend our travellers to look at the current travel restrictions of their destination, speak with a medical professional at least 30 days before departure or get in touch with our team for travel advice.

• Health care such as a doctor’s surgery, dentist and optometrists may not always be accessible on this tour

• It is advised that you ensure you have adequate health insurance cover as part of your travel insurance

Once booked you should receive a payment confirmation and receipt via email, followed by a booking confirmation normally within 72hrs of making a booking, sometimes this can take a little longer subject to supplier delay
