The highlights of the trip focus on two areas: nature and human settlements, but in Norway, this line definitely blurs more than most. You will experience Norway’s dramatic natural theatre in full effect on this trip, gliding through glassy fjords carved by millennia of ice as steep mountains and tumbling waterfalls frame the horizon. You will cruise past the sea-stacked islands and needle-like peaks of the Lofoten archipelago, where fishing boats contrast with wild surf. You will stand beneath the sheer cliffs of the North Cape, feeling the Arctic wind and vast ocean stretching to the horizon. From deck, you might spot pods of orcas and humpback whales, rafts of diving sea birds, and coastal seals chilling out on rocky islets, all painted by the ethereal light that you get nowhere else in the world. This is a cinematic landscape that you won't be able to stop staring at.  

Then there is the human side. The blending of nature lies along the coastal route where the towns you visit feel intimate, resilient, and richly varied. You will experience Ålesund’s fairy-tale Art Nouveau streets, Trondheim’s historic wooden wharves and cathedral, the picture-postcard fishing villages of Lofoten, and Honningsvåg near the North Cape, each offering fresh seafood, local crafts, and warm encounters with communities whose maritime traditions and coastal rhythms have shaped everyday life for centuries. And then there are the two delightful bookends to this trip, Oslo and Tromsø. Oslo is a cultured, compact capital of museums, contemporary architecture, and lively waterfront cafés where Norwegian design and cuisine set a modern tone. And Tromsø has a wilder, northern vibe, famed for Sami heritage, vibrant nightlife, and easy access to wilderness excursions like dog-sledding or Northern Lights chases. 

Your trip begins in Oslo, where you will spend a couple of nights before boarding your Hurtigruten ship to travel up the coast.  You will visit Stavanger, Ålesund, Rørvik, Svolvær and  Stokmarknes before finishing up the trip in Tromsø. Then, after a couple of nights there, we will fly you back down to Oslo to meet your onward travel arrangements.

Passport & visa requirements

Health & vaccination

• As border restrictions for countries begin to ease, being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will maximise the number of locations you can visit. So whilst you are not legally required to be vaccinated, and it’s also not a requirement to travel with us, it will limit some of the countries that you can visit and may make it harder to travel for the next 12-18 months.
• We highly recommend our travellers to look at the current travel restrictions of their destination, speak with a medical professional at least 30 days before departure or get in touch with our team for travel advice.
• Health care such as a doctor’s surgery, dentist and optometrists may not always be accessible on this tour
• It is advised that you ensure you have adequate health insurance cover as part of your travel insurance

Once booked you should receive a payment confirmation and receipt via email, followed by a booking confirmation normally within 72hrs of making a booking, sometimes this can take a little longer subject to supplier delay
