Discover a whole different side to Tasmania as you head to the north for a few days of immersion in Launceston, the second city. Now, as with any big city close to another, there is a fierce, but friendly rivalry with its sister city Hobart. Each competes with the other on their arts, gastronomy and architectural might, and to be fair, it is hard to pick a winner. But what is completely different in the north of Tasmania, is the astounding wilderness.
We have designed this trip so that you get ample time in the city, enjoying its boutiques, its chic little galleries and its wide array of magnificent restaurants. You can spend your days admiring the wide streets and leafy boroughs, chilling and filling your soul full of other people's incredible craftsmanship. But not every day. We have a few adventures lined up for you.
The wilderness surrounding Launceston is well worth exploring and we have set up two activities for you to delve deep and really soak in this natural paradise. You will head out to the Bay of Fires, arguably the most beautiful seascape on the whole island, and enjoy some of the greatest local produce on the way. The next day we will take you out to Cradle Mountain, a magnificent peak surrounded by thick Tasmanian forest, filled with wombats and wallabies. Again, because of the sheer wealth of great food on the island, you will be sampling some of the local delicacies as you pass through some of the local towns.
