For the first half, you will start in Beijing, where you'll explore the heart of Imperial China, exploring Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the magnificent Summer Palace before experiencing the unforgettable thrill of standing atop the Great Wall. In Xi'an, you'll encounter the legendary Terracotta Warriors, one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in human history, while Chengdu offers the opportunity to spend time with China's beloved giant pandas and experience the relaxed atmosphere of Sichuan Province.

The second half of the journey reveals an entirely different side of China. As you cruise along the Yangtze River, you'll witness some of the country's most spectacular natural scenery while enjoying the comfort of your floating hotel. The breathtaking landscapes of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park showcase soaring sandstone pillars, dramatic valleys and unforgettable viewpoints, while Tianmen Mountain and the famous Heaven's Gate provide some of the most awe-inspiring panoramas in Asia. The journey concludes in Shanghai, where the historic Bund, tranquil Yu Gardens and glittering skyline create a spectacular finale to an unforgettable adventure.

You'll travel aboard China's world-famous high-speed rail network, enjoy authentic regional cuisine, discover ancient traditions, cruise one of the world's great rivers and witness landscapes unlike anywhere else on Earth. Your trip begins in Beijing, where you will spend several days immersed in its cultural wonders.  Then you will transfer by high-speed train to Xi’an and then finish off your trip in Chengdu before being transferred to Chongqing, where you will spend the night before the next part of your trip kicks off.  From Chongqing, you board your ferry to cruise the Yangtze River. Two days later, you reach Yichang, where you disembark and travel to Zhangjiajie, where you will spend the next couple of nights.  Then, we fly you to Shanghai to explore this incredible city before the tour comes to an end.

• All visitors require a passport with a minimum validity of 3 months beyond your return travel date is required for all passengers (including children and infants)

• If the visitor is a non-Australian passport holder, a valid re-entry visa may be required

Health & vaccination

• As border restrictions for countries begin to ease, being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will maximise the number of locations you can visit. So whilst you are not legally required to be vaccinated, and it’s also not a requirement to travel with us, it will limit some of the countries that you can visit and may make it harder to travel for the next 12-18 months.

• We highly recommend our travellers to look at the current travel restrictions of their destination, speak with a medical professional at least 30 days before departure or get in touch with our team for travel advice.

• Health care such as a doctor’s surgery, dentist and optometrists may not always be accessible on this tour

• It is advised that you ensure you have adequate health insurance cover as part of your travel insurance

Tipping

• Tipping is included in the package.

• Tipping in Asia is customary and an expected element in the tourism industry today as recognition of great service and China is no exception. Many passengers are often uncertain of how much to tip, so we have listed below recommended tipping amounts (payable in local currency):

Guide: ¥65.00 per person, per day.

Driver: ¥30.00 per person, per day.

Porterage: ¥5.00 per usage.

• We also recommend having smaller notes to tip others who offer assistance.

Fitness requirements

• Travellers should have a good level of physical fitness and mobility. They must be able to partake unaided in their chosen activities/package tours/cruise etc. as outlined in the itinerary
